The current car 16 is a newly built vehicle (dedicated 1990) that utilized the roof of the original car 16 (formerly 516) built in 1893-94 by Carter Bros. It wears the 1939 Muni livery of blue and gold.

Powell car 16 at the Market St. end of the line on the evening of December 27, 2012. It was decorated for the holiday season by Ghirardelli Chocolate. Nine photos added 08/05/14.


Powell car 16 in Ghirardelli decorations outbound at Powell and Ellis Sts. (first four photos) on the evening of December 27, 2012. Because of traffic delays, I was also able to photograph the car at Powell and O'Farrell Sts. (last six photos). Ten photos added 08/05/14.
