HARVEY BUS:
Harvey Bus Lines Inc. was a privately owned company that provided bus service in the Manhattan Blvd. and
Estalote Ave. areas of the West Bank of Jefferson Parish. The route began about 1974. In March 1982,
Jefferson Parish reduced its operating subsidy to the company from at least $6000 monthly to $2000.
The owner kept service going until the Parish stopped the subsidy in March 1983; the company went out of business
immediately. Westside Transit Lines then began a modified route which was discontinued in October 1983.
The company owned at least two buses, both of which from the following photos appear to be GMC TDH-3501s
from the late 1960s. Original owners unknown. One bus has the GMC marque on the front, the other does not.
This Times-Picayune newspaper photo shows an apparently unnumbered GMC bus on Estalote Ave. circa March 1982. Photo moved
from another page 05/22/14.
GMC bus number 1812 at the Gretna Ferry Terminal sometime in 1982. Photo moved
from another page 05/22/14.
FORMER SCRTD GMC COACH:
This converted GMC old look from Southern California RTD was parked at 16th and 7th Sts. in San Francisco on February 24, 2010.
